Non-lethal military technologies of the near future

Modern warfare requires an innovative approach to offensive and defensive actions. It should also reduce the number of human casualties and increase operational efficiency. Various non-lethal technologies can provide all of the above. The military actively tests them, and they may soon become indispensable for performing dozens of tasks. In our article, we will briefly consider the most promising technologies and assess the likelihood of their implementation in the current decade.

Active Denial Technology

This technology is considered the most promising. Its essence lies in the use of the so-called heat beam. When it hits the skin, it creates a feeling of intense burning, which is why a person is forced to run away or hide behind some obstacle. This technology is designed to neutralize opponents temporarily during military operations. For example, by directing a beam at a sniper, you can temporarily disable him without causing fatal injuries. Blinding devices that use Active Denial Technology operate on the same principle. They direct a laser beam into a person’s eyes, disorienting him and preventing him from performing any actions (for example, aiming or coordinating the actions of soldiers).

Long Range Acoustic Technology

The military developed and began testing Long Range Acoustic Technology to neutralize many enemy soldiers. Its principle is based on creating focused sound waves that uniquely affect people. These waves cause disorientation and pain in a person, which gradually increases until the people affected by them leave the area of the devices used. Although it creates unpleasant sensations, the use of sound waves does not harm a person in any way. Scientists have proved this, so using the latest acoustic technology is possible in the coming years.

Electromagnetic Pulse Technology

This promising technology is already used in some armed conflicts today. Shortly, it will be in demand worldwide and become an indispensable assistant for military personnel and representatives of special services. The principle of operation of this technology is based on the creation of an electromagnetic pulse, which temporarily disrupts the operation of various electronic systems. Thanks to this, it is possible to neutralize the means of communication the enemy uses, depriving him of the ability to coordinate actions. This technology can also disable even agm thermal imaging devices and similar equipment, such as unmanned aerial vehicles and ground vehicles. At the same time, people do not receive any negative impact, but they are deprived of the ability to use anything with electronic components in its design.

Chemical and Biological Technologies

Technologies based on biological and chemical agents are another promising direction for non-lethal military combating the enemy. Today, we already know about the development of particular substances and microorganisms (so-called agents) that can temporarily disable people without causing harm to their health. They should act the same way as tear gas, only cause fewer negative consequences for a person. New developments in the future can become an excellent tool for containing large concentrations of enemy troops. They will also be in demand in the work of police officers and representatives of special services.

Non-lethal technologies are our future. They may become indispensable in offensive and defensive military operations in a few years. With their help, achieving the desired result and avoiding many human casualties will be possible. Today, many of the described technologies are already being tested, so there is no doubt they will be used relatively soon.
